OVERVIEW
The government through the ministry of Lands, under department of housing was implementing the Decent and Affordable Housing Subsidy Program. The programs components were the loan houses, houses for vulnerable groups and elderly and the chief’s houses. After a series of cases of murder for people with albinism, the State President then directed that under the program, a component for the construction of houses for people with albinism should be added. This directive has also been made by the current State President to go on with the project.

The project targets to construct 5 houses in each of the 193 constituencies across the country. This translates into 965 housing units over a period of 5 years.

PROJECT PROGRESS
The overall project implementation is currently at 2%.
  • 965 houses for people with albinism are expected to be constructed across the country over the project's lifespan.
  • 28 houses earmarked for the 2021/22 FY and 11 in the 2022/23 FY
  • 18 houses have been completed.
